The Importance of Training With Proper Technique

 

Again there are many different types, large, medium or small. Extra care should be taken when using Hand Paddles as they can put additional strain on the shoulders, this in turn could lead to shoulder injuries; also using hand paddles at two young an age may well just be too risky.
They will allow the swimmer to improve there under water phase, this will in turn improve swimming speed. Care should be taken with age group swimmers and it is wise not to over use during training as this can effect the stroke development.
If you are thinking of using training paddles try them in small amounts, a week on then a week off for a month or two. As you find your skill or strength improves incorporate them into your swimming training program.
If you’re a competing triathlete you may want to only use Hand Paddles in the off season, to build additional strength or skill. Consideration should be taken when buying hand paddles, remember that the bigger the hand paddle the more stress there is on the shoulders.
If you’re lacking in swimming strength they can be a great training aid for boosting your power many swimmers use them in training sessions and they form part of any swim training program.
They can be a great way to improve your swimming speed and power and technique, this may take a while.
If you have been having shoulder problems then paddles may not be suitable for your swimming program.
