Many of us recently received a big delivery of the Ocean Kayak model of fishing kayaks, and have received lucky enough to keep them round the shop long enough to test some of them out. The kayaks we will be testing for this post are the Drifter, Prowler, Yak Board, Frenzy and the Scrambler. These are generally priced within reach on most kayak fishing anglers, which means you won’t break the bank trying to device one of these up. Which one you select really just depends on your requirements.

We tested the Sea Kayak Drifter kayak, inside Angler version. This model includes a couple of flush attach rod holders, and a good tankwell with bungees. In 13 feet long, and the majority 33 inches wide, you will be hard pressed to switch this boat. You could almost stand on this boat and tricing a fly. It would have a bit of practice, I am sure, but if you act like you are looking for an incredibly wide, sturdy, fast kayak, the Bum Angler at 13 foot is an excellent addition to your steady!

The Frenzy is a great tiny boat, and at 9 legs long, you can quickly grab their 360 and go. If you have virtually any farm ponds, or creeks off in the cut with you, this is going to end up being your current go to kayak. At thirty-three inches wide, you can’t turn this boat. It will fill along with water before you get it turned over. I haven’t attempted standing on it, but I can easily see how you could get out with slinging flies with this kayak.

The Prowler thirteen is one of Ocean Kayaks better selling models, as well as the new version is not going to end up being any different. They remanufactured the keel line about this boat, to allow it to slice through the water a lot better. This did a great job before, great, it is untouchable. It has a great hatch on the front, and appears like it is going to be decently water-proof. I would still be careful together with storing electronics and such inside it.

Next on the list is the Scrambler. This is a great all around fishing boat, for any time of sportfishing you will encounter. Small enough for you to throw into the car or truck as well as take to your favorite pond as well as creek, but still long and also wide enough to handle harder surf, or a faster relocating current. The way that Ocean created this boat, it isn’t really made fo bigger paddlers. You could easily get the girlfriend or wife directly into this boat, and they would be secure enough that you wouldn’t notice any complaining!

Last, however, not least, is the Yak Panel. The step child inside Ocean’s lineup, but rapidly becoming one of my faves. Yes, it is only 8 toes long, and is extremely broad, so it isn’t going to kayak very well. However , as long as wind is dead, and there is absolutely no current, you could easily stay in just one spot fishing on this very little kayak all day. Ocean Boat did a good thing when they reintroduced this boat to the lineup, and i also am sure there are going to be much more fans of it.
